The price covers one tank. Most houses here have two — an underground concrete tank and an overhead plastic one — and they're priced separately because they're genuinely different jobs. An underground concrete tank has to be entered, scrubbed and disinfected; an overhead plastic tank is drained, scrubbed and rinsed.

Included in every plan: Essential covers one tank cleaning a year. Plus and Complete cover two. Tank cleanings are scheduled services — they run on the calendar and don't use one of your monthly visits.

Why April and October

The two cleanings on Plus and Complete are timed deliberately, not split evenly across the year:

April — going into the heat. Warm standing water is where algae and bacteria multiply. Cleaning in April means you enter May, June and July with a clean tank rather than cleaning one in September after three months of it.

October — after the monsoon. Monsoon is when contamination gets in: runoff, a loose lid, dust washed off the roof, sometimes sewage backflow in low-lying areas. Cleaning before the rains means cleaning something that's about to get dirty. October is the month that clears out what the monsoon brought.

If you only do one a year, do April.

How often should a water tank be cleaned?

Twice a year is the honest answer for most Lahore homes — the two months above. Once a year is workable for a household with a well-sealed overhead tank and steady mains supply.

Clean it sooner than scheduled if:

• the water smells or tastes different
• you can see sediment in a glass left standing
• the lid has been off, or is cracked or missing
• the supply has been interrupted and came back discoloured
• anyone in the house has had a stomach upset with no other explanation

What a proper tank cleaning includes

Ask for these. A quick rinse is not a cleaning:

1. Drain fully — including the sludge layer at the bottom, which is the part that matters
2. Scrub the walls and floor — sediment and biofilm don't rinse off
3. Disinfect and rinse out
4. Check the lid, the inlet and the float valve — a tank with a broken lid will be dirty again in weeks, and a stuck float ball is why it overflows

If the float ball is the problem, that's a separate small job — Rs 1,300 on our list card, and less on a plan.

Honestly: this one you can schedule yourself

Tank cleaning is once or twice a year and easy to book on its own. If it's the only thing you need, nobody should be selling you a monthly plan for it — book the cleaning.

Where a plan changes things is that it stops being something you remember. It's on a calendar, it happens in April and October, and someone turns up without you thinking about it. That's the actual product: not a discount, a schedule you don't have to keep.
